Taiwan is situated on the major aviation route in the Asia Pacific region connecting the world, and the future of Taoyuan International Airport (TTIA) is to be positioned as the East Asian hub.
With a world-class mega terminal, comprehensive terminal facilities, and integrated smart airport amenities for more convenient airport services, TTIA is also broadening its cargo area for a better transportation environment for both passengers and cargoes, while expanding its development as a free trade zone to facilitate trade & commerce, passenger & cargo transportation in East Asia, hoping to attract short to mid-distance passenger/cargo demands in Southeast Asia, South Asia and to boost growth in long-distance passenger/cargo demands from Europe and America.
To achieve the target of becoming the East Asia hub, TTIA will take action in phases and strengthen the services/facilities capacity for cargo/passenger transportation. In the future the operation target is expected to reach a passenger capacity of 86.6 million, cargo capacity of 5 million metric tons, and aircraft movements of 490,000 flights.
In response to the climate change and energy transition, airport terminals will be constructed as green buildings complemented with energy-saving low-carbon practices for sustainable building extensions as part of a “low-carbon, resilient, smart”, world-class international airport.
